Why the Colorbar Ultimate Eyeliner is the Ultimate

For an Indian girl, a kajal is almost always the first item of cosmetics she buys.Whether for that all important 10th farewell, 1st day of college or the start of a new corporate career, kajal is where she heads.
My first (eyeliner :P) was the thick Streetwear one and while I still use it occasionally, I have moved on to other makes, brands, styles, and colors, which is why in the search I have finally found my HG liner ........................Presenting Colorbar Ultimate Eyeliner.

What the Company says:
Ultimate Eyeliner by Colorbar is a unique product which is perfect for defining your eyes in a lightning speed without any application difficulty. Its professional flexible brush offers great accuracy to line and define the eyes, ensuring an even application. Enables ease of use with the optimal control to give jet black color.

Available in great shades - the green and the blue are very wearable!

PRICE
INR 499.00

This little pen has changed the way I look at eyeliners. One swipe and Im outta the door.It stays on and on throughout the day until I reach home and wash it off.

Pros:
1.Great for beginners as the felt tip allows you scope to practice a steady line.
2. Dark Black
3. Line can vary from thin to thick as per preference
4. No touch ups or raccoon eyes
Felt tip makes lining the eyes super easy. Its not very stiff, not is it too bendy. You press harder for a thicker line.
4. Non-smudging
5. Travel Friendly
6. Special non slipping grip to avoid ooooopsies!
7. Does non irritate eyes with contacts (very big plus in my eyes!! excoooooze the pun!)

Cons:
1. Not waterproof. I do not mind as I am not a fan of waterproof eye liners or mascaras.
2. It gets over pretty soon . If used everyday, it would last you only one month.Which is why the cost pinches you a bit,INr 499 for only 1 ml of the product is a little on the high side imho!

The picture below is taken after 11 hours of application and running around the office. Still no smudges on my upper eyelid. My Lower eyelid though is a different story entirely. The Lakme Eyeconic liner has smudged and run into lines. (Please excuse the cavewoman eyebrows.....im working on a tutorial and growing them out).

YAY Or NAY?

Definitely YAY!!Compared to previous pen type eye liners like Lakme Eye Artist and Bourjois Line Feutre this is a great buy. Colorbar has definitely done a great job. I am buying the Green one next. The black one is definitely re-purchase material again and again and again!!

EOTD & Tutorial - Smoky Pink Eye in Under 5 Min.

Hey Sweets! I know everyone keeps busy during the week and its often in the morning when we are trying to run around getting showered, dressed, cram breakfast that we wish we had an extra 5 minutes to work on eyes instead of just slapping on some eyeliner and hightailin it outta the home! I know I do!
So Here is a 5 min eye routine that one can wear easily and still not be late, using the simplest shade that suits everyone, pink!
So lets get started. Here is what you need:
  1. Pink Eyeshadow
  2. Light eyeshadow for highlighting
  3. Brown eyeliner
  4. Light brown lip pencil/eyeliner
  5. Mascara (Optional)
  6. Eyelash Curler (Optional)

Step 1: After priming your lids, use the light brown lip pencil/eyeliner to draw a straight line from the outer corner of your eye extending towards the tip of your eyebrow, till it stops where your crease line would meet it.
Step 2: Follow the crease of the eyelid till you are about 3/4th of the way and draw along the upper lash line till at the inner edge of the iris (eye's colored part)
Step 3: Fill the brown shade in the shape of a rough C as shown (Don't worry about perfect lines)

Step 4 & 5: Apply pink eyeshadow all over the eye lid as a wash, try and keep it even but no hassles if you don't.Apply highlighter and blend it downwards.
Step 6 (optional): Fill in eyebrows with brown eyeshadow and/or shape it with eyebrow wax.
Step 7: Line the upperr lash line with brown eyeliner for a casual look  or black for a sharper look
Step 8: Apply the same on your waterline and lashes.Apply mascara if required.Thats it! You're done!

Why I love this look:
  1. Its super fast - takes literally 5 minutes
  2. No issues of different eyeshadows requiring time to blend
  3. Pink works for all skin tones and all occasions
  4. Good for a casual day or formal evening - its versatile
  5. Brings beautiful shades of pink, mauve, golden and copper to your eyes if you place the C correctly :)
  6. Brown base allows lighter look for eye rather than the traditional dark smoky eye (that makes eye look small) therefore good women with smaller eyes too.
  7. You can vary the intensity of the smokey effect by darkening the brown C

Hope you like my 1st effort using the Coastal Scents Palette! Please let me know if you have any requests, I love em!

MAC Summer Release: Hey Sailor! (Pic Heavy)

When its hot and the sun wilts your powersuits and you would give anything for a breath of fresh air, what do you do? You ditch those stuffy clothes and go sailing! The French Riviera, the local beach, Marbella or Malibu, it doesn't matter!
And to keep you gorgeous on the blue seas this summer, MAC launches its Hey Sailor! Collection -  on May 24th in North America, while worldwide / international is will be launched in May 2012. Unfortunately, like most MAC releases  this year Hey, Sailor! MAC cosmetics Summer Makeup Collection 2012 will be a limited edition collection, unless the big bosses change their minds.
I would suggest that if you really like something make sure to buy 2 or more of whatever you like from this collection since so far everything is slated to be LE and nothing will be part of the permanent collection.
So just to give you a heads up, here is a sneak peak of Hey, Sailor! MAC cosmetics Summer Makeup Collection 2012

Lipstick - USD $14.50
Red Racer - bright yellow red (satin finish)
To Catch A Sailor - highly frosted tan (frost finish)
Salute! - neutral peach (amplified finish)
Sail La Vie - bright mid-tone orange (satin finish)

Ignorance really is Bliss!

I wanted to post this article over the weekend when the readership is higher. Reason? It affects all of us.
As beauty enthusiasts and budding fashion experts we spend not only money, but also time and  effort combing the market for goods and solutions to beauty problems, conducting research (most often on our own skin) and posting the findings so everyone can benefit from them.
But is it being reciprocated? I am talking of the big brands that love to approach us and offer benefits in the form of patronage and fame.I recently read an article quoting the harmful metals found in beauty products like eyeshadows, foundations and most importantly lipstick which is ingested directly into our systems. This was further supported by data FDA which found Lead in over 400 brands of lipstick.
