Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner: Review and Swatches

Girls everyone has their favourite products, that one thing they do not leave home without and even then it goes in their bag with them.

For me it’s the Maybelline gel eyeliner and here I will discuss why. One quick swipe of it and Im’m outta the door.Yep its that simple! The result: a sultry lashline that’s perfect for office all day long.

The brush that comes with it is of good quality and smooth. Its made in such a tapered way so as to give you full freedom to choose the thickness of your lines.

Almost everyone told me I would find using a brush difficult but all my painting has finally paid off and allows me to use this versatile product as not only an eyeliner but also as a quick mascara and eyebrow definer if I’m on the run (which happens way too often!!)
In case you are like me and want multi-purpose utility, make sure you have separate brushes for each purpose. Eyebrows and lashes catch a lot of dust and infection causing germs (eeyuck!) so one can’t use the same wand for everything.
The color payoff is great and the gel is easy to use. I love its slightly thick consistency which doesn’t make me leave extra product on the lid that will later run down. If you find it too thick for you, you can always put the little pot ina  mug of warm water for 15 min which will loosen its thickness a little.
It does dry a little quickly on my lids, which may not be a bad thing once you are practiced and can work it in one swipe because you know you don’t want it transferring to your crease line. It gives a matte finish which is awesome for everyday wear and looks completely natural.

This gel liner however does not stay on your waterline for more than 2-3 hours so you might want to carry a pencil stick with you for re-application or use one right from the beginning like I do!

An MRP of Rs.390 (less on shopping sites) also allows us to experiment with it without feeling guilty of flushing money down the toilet and also a good investment for beginners. Also you only need a little each time so its gonna last a very long time.

 Pros:
  • Deep black color
  • No eye irritation
  • Creamy and smooth application
  • Excellent brush
  • Water-proof
  • Matte finish
  • Inexpensive - Rs.390
  • Small pot but its gonna last a long long time

 Cons:
  • Does not stay on the waterline more than 2-3 hours.
  • Smudges on vigorous rubbing
  • Glass pot makes it difficult to travel

 Suggestions:
  • Use a bent brush to apply your eyeliner.straight brushes cause your hand to be exactly where you need to draw your line and thus you cant see what your doing and uneven eyeliner is born.
Its one fool-proof way of controlling raccoon eyes and also having to apply liner/kohl again and again( specially if you are like me and HATE reapplying).

Would I buy it again? definitely! until a better product comes along.
I give it :  3.8/5
